Skinny Butt

Last night the girls took a shower and after getting out I was having them get dressed. I had panties for both of them and normally they don’t have specifically assigned panties, though a few fit Emily better then Erika. Well I happened to grab a smaller size and regular size. Emily took the regular size which I had intended for Erika. I asked her to let Erika wear those because she has a skinny butt and the other pair would fit Erika better. Erika proceeded to walk behind Emily crouch down and inspect Emily’s butt. After through inspection it was determined by Erika that Emily does not have a skinny butt.

6mths old - again Emilyon left and Erika on the right.  This was when we were packing up for the move back to MN.

cutie-pies

1 1/2 yrs old - How cute is are these 2?  Emily on the left, Erika on the right.   Its weird how the photos keep with Erika on the right.  The thing is that until recently I’ve automatically always put Erika on my left side.  So when I’m pushing the stoler Erika is on my left.  Their beds are set up so I feel Erika is on the left side of the room as you walk in.  It must go back to Baby A or Erika was on my left side since the start.   I’ll post more later, I want to enjoy this quite time I have and watch a little mindless TV.

Soup & Hot Dogs

I have 2 quick stories to share from this weekend.

1) Soup - The other day Erika brought me a can of what I thought was soup.  She said she wanted to have some Flower Soup for lunch.  I had not clue what she was talking about since I have never heard of flower soup.  Well the can was really Carnation Condensed Milk.  If you have seen their can it has carnations on the front.

2) The other day we were watching The Great Outdoors and in the movie it is mentioned by the raccoons that hot dogs are made from Lips and Ass Holes.  Its not actually said in the movie but in a subtitled.  My brother was watching the girls on Fri and fed them Mac and Cheese with hot dogs and apparently told the girls that hot dogs come from Lips and Butt Holes.  The girls heard - Lips and Bubbles.  So now my kids will tell all the kids at daycare that hot dogs are made from Lips and Bubbles.

The GIRLS Stats!!

Erika -
Height 40 1/4″  75%
Weight 34 lbs  50%

Emily-
Height 39 1/4″  45%
Weight 30 lbs  10%
Its taken Emily a LONG time to get to the 30lb mark and I’m soooo excited.  This girl can eat with the best of them but she can’t put a pound on her.  I think its crazy that 1 inch is that much of a difference in percentile.
They did great at the check up and didn’t need shots this year.
It was interestign when the Dr. had them draw a picture of a person and they both drew a person that looked the same but upside down.  He said that about 30% of the kids will draw the person upside down.  At this age all kids draw they same type of picture; big head, huge eyes and stick leg/arms.

The Girls are 4

I can’t believe the girls are already 4.  The past 4 years have flown by.

Ryan and I were updating their photos and looking back at them through the years and it’s amazing to see how much the acutaly changed.  You don’t see it as much when we see them daily.  I hope to get some time to post a few photos.

They had a great bday party on Saturday.  We did bowling with some family and friends.  I think everyone had a great time and I know the girls defiantly enjoyed having their friends there.

On Sun. we watched my nephews and at about 4:30 Ryan and I both commented on how we are happy we stopped at 2.   I was amazed at how well the day acutaly went.

I will post a few photos of the girls over the last 4 yrs later this week.

Halloween

Trick or treating was fun this year.   Emily was in the lead at 99% of the homes and pretty much had her candy in hand before Erika made it to the door.  Erika was running slower then normal due to lack of a nap and fighting a cold.

There were 2 houses Emily did not want to go near.  The 1st house she made me carry her and the other one she went with Erika but very unwillingly.   Then there was another house where a gorilla came up behind Emily and that freaked her out.  Erika on the other hand was her normal go with the flow kind of gal.

Erika was her horse again this year while Emily was Snowwhite aka a princess.  I think they enjoyed handing out candy as much as getting it.

Gum Balls

Dumb me the other day got my old gum ball machine out and filled it with gum balls.  Well not EVERY time Ryan or I go near the thing, or after dinner the girls ask for a gummy ball.  I don’t know how many times we have said Nope, no, not at 7 in the AM.  The thing is almost out and it is not getting refilled.

Lastnight I was in the mood for a gum ball at about 7:30 and I was dumb and turned the dial when the girls were with in ear shot.  They of course dropped what they were doing and made a v-line for me and the gum ball machine.  I didn’t take the gum ball out and told them mommy bumped the machine and it was close to bed time so no gum balls for anyone.  They were upset gave me a few wines and went back to the movie.  I then snuck the gum ball and went to sit on the couch all the while trying not to let them see me chew the thing.  Emily sat down next to me and looked at me with her look of ‘ I know something is going on’.  She then asked if I had a gum ball and I told her nope.   Her reply was - huh I sure smell a gum ball and then proceded to smell me.  I was forsure I got caught but nope she decided I smelled OK and I didn’t have a gum ball.

Again,  that dang thing is not coming out when the gum balls are gone.

Erika the book worm

The girls go to bed between 7:30-8:00 most nights and usually stay up and read for about 20min or so.  Erika sometimes will be up later then 8:30 reading so I have to reminder her its light out.  Well tonight I forgot to go in there around 8:30 and instead went in their room to make sure they were all tucked in at 9:00.  I found Erika still awake with a stack of books by her side.

I told her it was time for bed and she needed to shut her light off.  She told me that she just had one more book to read.  From the larger pile next to her it looked as though she had already read 20 books.  I asked if she had read all of those and she said yep I did.  Then she point to the pile and said ‘that one is a long book.’  I looked over the pile and noticed there was a grade school book Ryan had from school that is 500 pages long.  She sat there and look over the entire book so no wonder its 9:00 and she isn’t sleeping yet.
I giggled and told her one more book and its time for bed.  I think we have a book worm on our hands.

Not Much New

Its been a pretty low key week for our househol.

The only big excitment is that I’m getting a new washer and dryer next week and I can’t wait.  Ryan took the old ones out lastnight and placed them in the garage so I can post on Craigslist.  The girls were a little nervous when Ryan told him he was going to move the house with the hand cart.  Emily doesn’t want to move and Erika said daddy couldn’t move the house with that thing.

This weekend Ryan is on call so the girls and I might head to BEM and hang with family.  Though I’m not 100% sure we will go.  One of the kids who goes to DC before and after school has the dreaded H1N1 and so with my luck one of us would get sick come Fri or when up there so I might change plans and do some things around here with the girls.

2 Little Fish

The girls had their 1st round of swim lessons yesterday.  They were so excited to be going swimming and at a school to boot.  We were dressed and waiting for class to start watching the other kids in their lessons and the girls couldn’t sit still.   Once class started for them the shyness appeared and it was slow moving towards the teacher.  Erika ended up taking the lead and Emily followed.   Once in the water it was like watching 2 little seals bobbing their head above the ice.  We could barley see them with the way the class was situated and the edge of the pool sits.

Class consisted of putting their heads underwater, kicking a little while held by the teacher and bobbing up and down while the teacher took his turn with each kid.  They didn’t stop smiling and giggling until it came down to business.  Business was their turn to float on the back or whatever.

I did realize a few things while at this 30 min class.

1)      When Emily is with just family she is the boss of Erika.  We constantly tell her to stop bossing Erika around and how she is not the boss.  When you toss her into a new situation Erika is a leader and Emily follows.

2)      I have prior experience teaching swimming and realized that its better for them learning from a stranger then me because when I try to teach them anything its one big game.  They listen much better to the teacher.

3)      My how easy it was to get the girls to shower and wash their hair when they just finished swimming.  It was great not asking 10 times for them to put their head under the water or jump in the shower.

4)      This was a photo opportunity and I did not bring the camera.  Everyone but Ryan and I took some photos.
