Weekend Stiches

We had a nice spring weekend in MN.  The weather was a little warmer (42 maybe) and the wind was mild.  Saturday we spent a good chunk of the day cleaning my van.  This has not been done for quite a long time.  Maybe since I bought it over a year ago.  We started on Friday at the WHE was bay.  The girls helped daddy scrub the car.  I think we left with 2 very wet kids and a clean car.
Saturday we hit Menards for a few things and then spent the rest of the morning cleaning the inside of the car.   The girls and I were in charge of doing the wipe down.  While Ryan was doing the floors.  At one point Ryan went downstairs to get the carpet cleaner set up and change around the laundry.

He came back out to the garage a little on the irritated side.  I guess he thought that I would help or volunteer to clean out the poopie in the dryer.  I think what happened is he didn’t clean out someone’s dirty panties very well and for what ever reason the washing machine didn’t take care of the mess either.  So the dryer did and let’s just say there was another load of laundry to do and we have a sanities dryer.
ps: I said so what do you want me to do about when he told me of the mess.  He didn’t’ like that and stormed off. hee hee I still giggle.

So we finished up the cleaning of the car and had a pretty uneventful afternoon.

Sunday we were up and ready for yet another nice day.  The girls had ants in their pants so I decided a nice walk would do us all good.  Well 1/2 the walk was good.  Emily was racing her sister and tripped on the sidewalk.  She did a face plant, breaking her sunglass and bleeding all over.  We rushed home and started the clean up.  She had a fat lip, bloody nose (I think blood from forehead and mouth went to nose) and a gash on her forehead.  I cleaned her up the best I could and didn’t think the forehead needed any medical attention.  We put some band aids where needed and sent her and Erika into our room for some down time and they watched Annie.

When lunch time came around I looked again and the forehead and started to think twice about seeing the Dr, but figured I would grab some butterfly band aids and call it good.   We had lunch and laid down for a nap.  10 min into the nap and Erika came running out telling me Emily didn’t feel good.  Emily came out with blood running down her face from the forehead.

Off to urgent care we went.  3 stitches later and she is back to herself.   She did great with the Dr and everything.  She might even have a little scare to show for it.

Now Erika during all of this has been very concerned about her sister.  When I told Erika I needed to bring Emily to the Dr Erika insisted on going.  I didn’t’ take her and from what Ryan said Erika did NOT like that one bit.  She got over it after a long nap and I’m not sure she even remembers I told her I would take her shopping.

I feel bad that all of my posts seem to center on the cons of raising kids.  I have a friend who I think is scared to read my blogs.  She is pregnant and already unsure of this whole baby raising thing.  I would just like to say it isn’t all bad and the next blog I will only write positive.

I have to say the best part of my day is dropping off the girls at daycare because I always get a hug and kiss from 2 cute girls.   Erika even told Ryan the other day she missed her mommy.  I’m so loved.

Before    After - will be posted when I get this to work right.

Dueling Daughters

My daycare lady calls me from time to time just to let me know if one of the girls got into trouble, hurt or isn’t feeling well.
She just called and let me know that Emily and Erika got into it today and Erika bit Emily.  This is something new, well the Erika as the biter normaly Emily has been the biter.  Well they fought then pottied in their pants.  This is the 2nd time this week they have fought and then went potty.  HELP??? Why this is and what can I do?

Cleaning Mo chine

This week I have taken on the task of cleaning the house. I can’t tell you the last time that was done.  Emily is my #1 cleaner.  She likes to clean anything and everything, put away dishes, and even helps with laundry.

I let them take turns with the vacuum in the kitchen.  The kitchen has a cut in the floor that looks like a black mark. Emily found it and tried so hard to clean it up.  She pushed the vacuum over it at least 10 times, made sure it was on, and made sure it was sucking then tried again.  She then ran into our bedroom and grabbed some Kleenex.  Came back into the kitchen and tried with all her might to scrub that mark.  I’m not sure what she said or did when she gave up.  It was really cute.

She will always be the first one to help with laundry.  She puts shirts on hangers, folds pants and the puts things away for me.  She is such the little helper.  This is good becuase she can go through the cloths like a tornado.  I think there are days she has 7 different outfits on.  Keep in mind we are working on the potty training. Though there are times when she thinks her shirt is to dirty or something and does a quick change.  My mom tells me that is how I was going up.

No No No

It has started.  The girls now are into telling mommy and daddy no.  More so Erika then Emily, though I’m sure she will catch on.  Right now Emily doesn’t say no she either lays on the ground like a dead fish, says mommy do it or daddy do it (opposite of who ever is trying to put PJs or what have you on).  Erika just says no and goes about her business.

This can be extremely frustrating when trying to get ready for work and daycare.  Like yesterday, I asked Emily to go potty before we put her clothing on.  I was given the answer no Renee’s house.  Well fine and dandy you can certainly go potty at Renee’s house when we get there but right now you need to potty here.  Nope she wasn’t having it.  Silly me figured she was tricky and did her business in her diaper before I had the chance to get it off.  SO I let it be and put her clothing on.  No more then 5 min later she was telling me she peed on the floor. WTF is all I wanted to say.  This morning she tried to play the game, I learned my lesson and that didn’t work this morning.

The other thing they are doing is taking their sweet old time.  This morning Erika told me she didn’t want to bring any animals to daycare.  She normally will bring at lest her favorite dog Ruby.  Nope she said not this morning.  So we started for the entryway to get ready to leave.  Emily over heard us and wanted to grab her animals, Erika then heard this and wanted hers.  It takes us a good 20 min to get ready to get out the door.

Easter was good - candy candy candy and more candy.  The girls know this and constantly ask for candy.  They did hunt for a few eggs but really once they realized they hand candy in them they were more into hurry up eat the candy in this egg forget about the rest.

Potty Update

So the girls are still working on this whole use the potty not our pants deal. Laughing I know people say some kids take to it quicker then others and they will have accidents from time to time.  Erika is doing quite well at the pee pee in the potty thing.  She comes home most days with the pants on that I sent her in.  This is my gage on if they had an accident or they ate something messy. Emily on the other hand rarely comes home in the pants I sent her in.  There are days they do come home but have an accident after they are in the care of daddy.

My daycare lady and I spoke last week about getting Emily into the pee pee in the potty mood.  She gets it and seems to choose not to use the potty because there isn’t a big incentive.  So we deiced to make a big production of Erika’s achievements and give her a sticker for #1 and a tattoo for#2 in the potty.  It has worked pretty well so far.

My thing is that Emily is after the reward.  She tends to go #2 in her pull up or diaper in the AM before we get a chance to hit the potty (lazy mommy).  She then sits on the potty and tells me how she should get a cookie.  I tell her that’s not how it works and she has to go pooipe in the potty in order to get a tattoo, candy or sticker.  So what does she do??? She tries with all her might to go poopie after the fact.  I don’t want her to get in the habit of ONLY using the potty if she gets a reward but I’m not sure what else to do.  Wish me luck on this.

On another note……
My parents were back in MN for a brief stint of 2 weeks.  They came down this weekend to hang with the family and see the grandkids.  As a big family we went to Underwater World and MOA.  The Underwater World is good for kids but really not all that impressive.  At MOA they had the reopening of the park as Nickelodeon Town or something.  Anyways they had all these big stars there singing.  The only one I recognized was Ashlee Simpson.   You should have seen some of the “fans”.   I’m not sure I would let my 10yr old out of the house looking like that.
We had a good time and I was even able to make it over and see my cousins’ new baby.  I told the hubby that I didn’t even get the baby fever after holding her.

Easter is up North this year at the in-laws.  Should be a good time.  Family galore will be there and we never get to see any of them.  The girls have already packed their bags for the trip.  It takes them a good 30 min to do that so I emptied their bags and will have them pack again tonight.  They bring toys and books but no clothing.  They tell me they don’t need that.
