Pacifiers

The girls still have a pacifier when they are sleeping.  They are not allowed one any other time.  I have asked them a few times here and there if we can throw them away or give them to babies that need them.  I’ve been told they need them and then they cry.

Well Ryan and I really think its time to do away with these things.  Granted they are great for those times when nothing else seems to help and they do make them sleepy.  BUT they are really getting old and in the way.  So lastnight I told the girls there is a baby coming this weekend that really needs their pacifiers and we should give them away.

Erika looked at me with a sad face and told me she needs her pacifier not the baby.  Then Emily did the same thing.  I pushed the subject for a good 5 min before I was able to get the wheels turing in their head. Emily finaly said she would give the pacifier to the baby so Erika agreed.  I told them that we can put them in a pretty package for the baby and then mommywoudl take them shopping to buy a special toy for them.  They both want back packs.

So this weekend my cousins is coming over with her new baby for a shower.  I plan to wrap the pacifiers in a pretty package for the girls to give her baby.  I hope this works and will keep you posted.

My daycare lady has been filled in and will put the bug in the girls head at daycare.  We hope that between the 2 of us it will go smoothly.

A weekend away

Thur - Sunday I was able to get away with my dad, uncles and cousins.  We had a nice father and daughter weekend in Grand Marias.  It was great great great.  It was all uncles and girl cousins and we had a blast.  The boys usually get their guy trips in every year and we decided it would be fun to do a trip with the dads.  We made the initial plans and they paid the bill .

We decided for our first trip together we would hit the north shore for some four wheeling.  When we awoke on Friday it was overcast but about 40ish.  We decided to take our “nice” weather when we had it and headed for the trails.  It was good four wheeling weather and by noon it had started to snow, which was OK because we were ready to call it a day.  The rest of the weekend was either raining or snowing so we did shopping, card playing and eating.

My older cousin and I are the only 2 with kids so it was a treat for us not having someone to take care of or tend to 24-7.   I did not get any extra sleeping in.  Our loft has now window coverings so we pretty much woke with the sun or someone dinking around down stairs.  We also went to bed each night after my normal bed time, this was because we ate dinner after my normal bed time.

I hope we can do this get together each year.

My kids and husband did survive without me.  Ryan took the girls to Bemidji for a long weekend.  They ended up with 15 inches of snow. Silly mommy didn’t pack all of their winter gear.  I did pack hats & mittens though.   When I met them at my cousins’ house they girls were very excited to see me and would not let me put them down.  That was until they saw the cat.  Then mommy was forgotten about and the cat was the target.  They love cats.

Not all that exciting

I have to say since my last post our life has been pretty uneventful.  The hubby is on call so we tend to stay a little low key anyways.  I have the joy of picking up the girls for daycare.   Most days its not all that bad but there are days when they either don’t want to leave.   Those days I’m ready to scream by the time we get home, and I live 2 blocks from daycare.

Last weekend we meet my uncle and cousin and my aunt (not married to my uncle, that would be icky they are bro and sis) at the barn where they keep my cousins horse.  She is into horse riding so I’ve been dying to get the girls over there to check out some horses.  They did pretty good with the horses.  Emily was a little scared at 1st but she did well.  They even sat on the horse for a photo.   I do have to say they were more into the cats then anything.  Erika also was good at pointing out the poopie.

We then went home from the barn for a nap.  It was great.  Emily and I took at least a 3hr nap and I finally had to wake Erika up after 4hrs.  I am now reminded of their crabby attitudes prior to seeing the horses and how I was ready to lock them in their rooms just so they could maybe nap.  Erika was so crabby she threw a fit when daddy shook her juice.  She isn’t the one who normally wears the crabby pants.

I’m now babbling so I will say a quick good bye.
