Twin Language

I have been asked if the girls have their own special language and my answer has always been no.  That is until this past weekend.  If you know the true Emily you know that she is a talker.  She is the type of girl that talks just to be heard and about anything and everything that comes to her mind.  Sometimes she gets something she needs to say and it comes out as mumbles because it’s so important and exciting.  We call her mumbles when this occurs.

The girls were playing mom & dad this weekend and having a little converstaion of there own.  Ryan and I could understand the majority of what they were saying up until the point Emily became excited about her thoughts.  Then it was like she started to speak a 2nd language we couldn’t understand a word she said.  Erika got it though and went along with what ever Emily was saying.

I later realized that they can also understand each other when one is sobbing uncontrollably.  Crazy but I have to now answer YES my kids have their own language.

It’s only
9:30 on Tues and I’m already done with 80% of my work…..this is going to be a long day!!!

Trip to CO summary

Our trip to CO for a wedding was GREAT.  We saw great friends, mountains and a wonderful wedding.

Ryan and I had orginally planed on taking the kids with us and making it a vacation but as the wedding date approched we decided a vacation without kids was the way to go.  I think both of us really missed them a ton, I know I did.

It was kind of funny - the entire trip we ALL had the opportunity to sleep pretty much until at least 10 if wanted but we were all up by at least 7:30 each morning.  I think it had to do with the time difference and the routine of getting up early with kids  With this group of friends we always get up early, even when we stay up until 3am the night before.

I really enjoyed being back in CO and sure do miss the Mtns.  Ryan said he doesn’t miss the mountains.  Granted we were never big into the Mtns when we lived there but I still miss them.  Kind of like I missed lakes whe I lived in CO.  We did notice that the stairs would leave us breathless, good thing we had one flight up and then the living room.  The other condo I think had 2 flights up.

Now that I’m back to work I need to find another vacation for the future so I have something to look fwd to.  I guess I could make my brothers wedding in Jan. the next big thing.

Kickin it in CO

Ryan and I are back in CO for a long weekend of fun with friends.  Our friends is getting married TODAY and I’m sad that means we will be back in MN tomorrow night.  The kids are spending time with grandparents this week and I think having way tooooo much fun.

When we got here I was a little sad and missed the girls, I still do miss them, but I think this trip I have missed them more since I would have really enjoyed showing them CO.  Most of us here in our group have lived in CO for some part of our life and I think the majority of us have all said at least once just how much we miss the Mtns.

I will blog a little more after getting back to MN.  I’m off to enjoy the sun and mtn view.

The Sprinkle Dr

The other night Emily was busy cutting daddy’s hair.  She turned and looked at me with a look of concern.  Then proceeded to tell daddy this…

Daddy you got too much hair cut off up here you need to go back to the
Sprinkle Dr and get some put back on.  Mommy look daddy doesn’t have much hair up here.

She was so concerned about the amount of hair Ryan had ‘taken off the top’ it was very cute.

Today is my last day of work before taking some time off for our trip to CO.  I can’t wait to be back in CO with friends sitting in the mountains drinking a beer.

What can I do for you?

I feel like between work, hubby and kids I’m always doing something for someone and at times I get a little tired of it.

Lastnight 1st thing I hear out of Erika is she wants me to help her with the puzzle.  I’m starving becuase I didn’t have time for lunch so all I want to do is get dinner started.  ps - Instead of lunch I had to stand in line for 20min at Walmart so I could get Ryan his Claratin and I get a 30 min lunch.  I tell her I will help after dinner but maybe daddy will help while I cook, nope he is busy doing whatever.  Then I hear mommy, mommy, mommy coming from the bathroom.  Emily is in the bathroom and just went #2.  Both her and Erika don’t wipe after #2 so I had to do that.  She did tell me that she had turned the fan on so that I would be able to make it into the bathroom to wipe her, that was nice. I have told both of the girls tell me before you got in the bathroom and  neither of them get that concept.

So I finally get everyone taken care of quick and then start on dinner.  The night continues on but you get the picutre.  Until about 8:30 when the girls are quiet I don’t get much of a break.

This was all after yet another day at work helping other people.  Yah I know thats my job but sometimes I seriously think to myself  ’really, and you can function in the real world all by yourself or please don’t have kids we don’t need anymore like you’.

Today I woke up with no desire what so ever to go to work.  So today I’m playing it easy and not really doing anything unless the phone rings or someone comes in.

Dinner Date

When I walked out of the office last night I was pleasantly surprised to see my hubby and kids waiting for me.  My husband made the decision that if we can’t find a sitter then we should at least go out to eat.   I didn’t even have to decide where we would eat; they all decided that for me.   I do have to say that was a better anniversary then I was expecting.

We had a great dinner and even made it home with enough time to do some laundry catch up, mowing and baths.

Tonight I’m going grocery shopping and I’m still not looking forward to it.

Side note - I think I will stick with this blog site until I can maybe copy and past or print all my old posts from this site.  That means I need to find time!!!

7 Years Of Wedded Bliss

Today is our 7 year annivesary.  Though when we think about our journey together as a couple it started more like 13 yeas ago. We have no plans for our anniversary.  I think we both are a little worn out from our past 2 weeks of work and trips up north.

For the 4th we spent 3 days at my parent’s house.  It was great!!! The weather couldn’t have been any better.  You can never complain when the sun is out, there are minimal clouds and the wind is a small breeze.

The girls had a blast playing the water.  We did some boating, leech collecting, fishing, chores and hot dog roasting.   The girls had a bucket full of leeches and when I checked on the bucket about an hour after they collected them only 2 of the 12 were in the bucket.  I told my parents that they might start to notice an odor around the back door and that would be the dead leeches.  Hey, grandma thought it was great that the girls were playing with leeches.

We were able to get a few chores done around the house which makes my parents very happy.  If any of you have ever been around my parent’s house during the summer you know the basic rule.  1) Work hard in the early am and play the rest of the day.  Pretty simple rule and one I find myself following in our own home.  It’s a given that if you are a friend or family it doesn’t matter you will be given a chore assignment.

I sure didn’t want to come back to work or home after a weekend like that.

Juy 4th and all its glory

Who doesn’t love July 4th.  In MN that means the corn is knee high .  Who doesn’t love the saying Knee high by the 4th of July???  It just means that soon we will be having yummy fresh corn on the cob.

I can’t believe that 7yrs ago we were getting ready for our wedding and week long fun with friends and family.  That was by far the most fun I’ve had on the 4th.
The runner up is living in CO when we drove around in 200 degree weather looking for a place to camp.  There was a buring ban so we couldn’t have a fire and who likes to camp with no fire?  Then we were in a location that we had never been so we went up a mountain road then had to back down, that was scary and I wasn’t even in the truck at the time.  Ryan and Mike figured they could “pop” a tree out of the woods like in the movies.  I think everyone besides Mike and Ryan know that what happens in the movies doesn’t happen in real life.  Lets just say the ride home for Mike and the crew was windy and the roof was a little caved in.  Overall the weekend was fun and memorable.

This year we are heading to Bemidji for the weekend.  Hopefully the weather is nice so we can use the lake and have some water fun.  The girls should be getting good at some of the games.  My favorite is the duck game because your always a winner.
This is the girls from 2006.

I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July!!!

Yes or No

I’m trying to decide if I want to stay with this blog site or go with another one my friends use.  Not sure how user friendly this one really is.  I’m going to test it with a few photo attachements and such and then decide.

This is a photo of Ryan, Erika and I while in FL at a place that had very yummy fish tacos.

I’m back once again!!!

So life has been busy but not so busy I wouldn’t have had time to blog.  I guess I just didn’t feel like fitting in time to write.

I figure that now is the time to start putting down the stories of my life so I can remember them when I’m old and grey.  Wait I am already grey and older.  I won’t try to go back in time and revisit stories that have made me laugh, smile, scream or cry. Starting fresh on this 1st day of July will be just fine.

The family is doing great.  Summer is here and yet its chilly out.  We have had the pool on the deck up on and off so far this summer but havn’t made a trip to the beach.  The girls have wtihout us and we did last weekend spend a little time in the water while ‘camping’ with friends in Nevis.  The girls love the water and so I will be trying to get more water time in soon.

Work is work and I’m just happy to have a job at this time.  Ryan is still working hard at his job and nothing new with a job up north.

I’m at work so I better get going but I wanted you all to know I will be better at sharing stories as life goes on.
