Band Aids fix everything

If you have a child that is at least 1 ½ years old you will relate to this story.   Once a kid realizes that Band Aids go on booboos and they fix everything, not to mention the great caricatures they now come in, every scrape or bump they get needs a Band Aid.

We’ve been on this kick for sometime now and even our neighbors have a daughter who is obsessed with Band Aids thanks to her grandma.  Apparently grandma went through an entire box of Sponge Bob Band Aids for one tinny scratch.   Ryan and I have started to ask if it’s bleeding and if its not then no Band Aid.

Yesterday the girls and I went on a walk and Erika tripped and scraped up her knees.  It was on the way to the park and really besides a few little tears she didn’t complain and played at the park just fine.  On the way back though Emily would not let it go and kept having Erika stop so she could take a quick look at her knees.  I tried to tell Emily to stop asking about it because it was upsetting Erika, that didn’t happen.  When we got home I asked Erika if she wanted a Band Aid and to my surprise she said nope.  There was blood and so I was very thrown off by her not wanting one.  She complained to daddy a little then he asked her if she knew where she left her skin from her knees.  Erika is the one with very black and white view points.   She told him that she can’t get her skin back because it’s stuck to the sidewalk and if she tries to pull it up it will fall apart.  Emily looked at her like she was crazy while Ryan and I tried to stop laughing.

When she finally went to bed she was hysterically crying because her knees hurt but she didn’t want a Band Aid because it would hurt more.  ** She was beyond tired last night so everything in her life was very upsetting at this point **  Finally after all the medicine we put on the knees came off on her sheets she let me put Band Aids on the knees and so life was better and she was able to fall asleep.

Mermaids

I had my mom buy the girls a new pool the other day and we were able to get it set up on Tues night and some swim time in yesterday after dinner.  I had been buying the $10 WalMart specials but this time I went for the silver (gold would be an acutal in ground pool) and bought a little bigger one.  This one they can actually swim in.

They put on their goggles and go under water and “swim” around.  They go under water and kick with all their might, then splash the entire deck.  I have it on the deck so the grass Ryan works so hard on doesn’t die and its warms up faster.  With the high 80 days we have been having I’m sure its almost boiling today.

This weekend we hope to make it to the beach one day.  I think we have been to the acutal beach 1 time this summer.  Scary that the summer is almost over.

Sick Day Saturday

Emily and Erika both had a bug yesterday that made them not feel good at all.

Today is a different story and they are back to 100%.  For me that means that yesterday I didn’t get anything done around the house because they needed my full attention.  Ryan is on call and so it seems like he is getting called out every few hours and alway right around a meal time. ps - they get paid meals if they miss a ‘normal at home meal.’ I sometimes wonder if they haev a this planned out.

Since I didn’t get all the laundry done ysterday I have that to do plus all the bedding that I just did last week to do again.  Good news is its supposed to be around 84 today and I might be able to enjoy the sun at nap time.

I should mention that I did get a good 2hr nap in yesterday and book reading time in, that was a plus.
