Band Aids fix everything
If you have a child that is at least 1 ½ years old you will relate to this story. Once a kid realizes that Band Aids go on booboos and they fix everything, not to mention the great caricatures they now come in, every scrape or bump they get needs a Band Aid.
We’ve been on this kick for sometime now and even our neighbors have a daughter who is obsessed with Band Aids thanks to her grandma. Apparently grandma went through an entire box of Sponge Bob Band Aids for one tinny scratch. Ryan and I have started to ask if it’s bleeding and if its not then no Band Aid.
Yesterday the girls and I went on a walk and Erika tripped and scraped up her knees. It was on the way to the park and really besides a few little tears she didn’t complain and played at the park just fine. On the way back though Emily would not let it go and kept having Erika stop so she could take a quick look at her knees. I tried to tell Emily to stop asking about it because it was upsetting Erika, that didn’t happen. When we got home I asked Erika if she wanted a Band Aid and to my surprise she said nope. There was blood and so I was very thrown off by her not wanting one. She complained to daddy a little then he asked her if she knew where she left her skin from her knees. Erika is the one with very black and white view points. She told him that she can’t get her skin back because it’s stuck to the sidewalk and if she tries to pull it up it will fall apart. Emily looked at her like she was crazy while Ryan and I tried to stop laughing.
When she finally went to bed she was hysterically crying because her knees hurt but she didn’t want a Band Aid because it would hurt more. ** She was beyond tired last night so everything in her life was very upsetting at this point ** Finally after all the medicine we put on the knees came off on her sheets she let me put Band Aids on the knees and so life was better and she was able to fall asleep.
