2 Little Fish

The girls had their 1st round of swim lessons yesterday.  They were so excited to be going swimming and at a school to boot.  We were dressed and waiting for class to start watching the other kids in their lessons and the girls couldn’t sit still.   Once class started for them the shyness appeared and it was slow moving towards the teacher.  Erika ended up taking the lead and Emily followed.   Once in the water it was like watching 2 little seals bobbing their head above the ice.  We could barley see them with the way the class was situated and the edge of the pool sits.

Class consisted of putting their heads underwater, kicking a little while held by the teacher and bobbing up and down while the teacher took his turn with each kid.  They didn’t stop smiling and giggling until it came down to business.  Business was their turn to float on the back or whatever.

I did realize a few things while at this 30 min class.

1)      When Emily is with just family she is the boss of Erika.  We constantly tell her to stop bossing Erika around and how she is not the boss.  When you toss her into a new situation Erika is a leader and Emily follows.

2)      I have prior experience teaching swimming and realized that its better for them learning from a stranger then me because when I try to teach them anything its one big game.  They listen much better to the teacher.

3)      My how easy it was to get the girls to shower and wash their hair when they just finished swimming.  It was great not asking 10 times for them to put their head under the water or jump in the shower.

4)      This was a photo opportunity and I did not bring the camera.  Everyone but Ryan and I took some photos.

We just finished swim lessons. Miller liked them but he cried most of the time. We will probably pick them back up after the holidays.

Don’t feel bad about the pictures. I tried to take pictures of Miller and realized that the rules are you can only take pictures the last 5 minutes during free time (where we take him).

I bet they were fun to watch and observing their personalities is also cool. Interesting to see they would reverse roles in public versus home.
