Trick or treating was fun this year. Emily was in the lead at 99% of the homes and pretty much had her candy in hand before Erika made it to the door. Erika was running slower then normal due to lack of a nap and fighting a cold.

There were 2 houses Emily did not want to go near. The 1st house she made me carry her and the other one she went with Erika but very unwillingly. Then there was another house where a gorilla came up behind Emily and that freaked her out. Erika on the other hand was her normal go with the flow kind of gal.

Erika was her horse again this year while Emily was Snowwhite aka a princess. I think they enjoyed handing out candy as much as getting it.

Dumb me the other day got my old gum ball machine out and filled it with gum balls. Well not EVERY time Ryan or I go near the thing, or after dinner the girls ask for a gummy ball. I don't know how many times we have said Nope, no, not at 7 in the AM. The thing is almost out and it is not getting refilled.

Lastnight I was in the mood for a gum ball at about 7:30 and I was dumb and turned the dial when the girls were with in ear shot. They of course dropped what they were doing and made a v-line for me and the gum ball machine. I didn't take the gum ball out and told them mommy bumped the machine and it was close to bed time so no gum balls for anyone. They were upset gave me a few wines and went back to the movie. I then snuck the gum ball and went to sit on the couch all the while trying not to let them see me chew the thing. Emily sat down next to me and looked at me with her look of ' I know something is going on'. She then asked if I had a gum ball and I told her nope. Her reply was - huh I sure smell a gum ball and then proceded to smell me. I was forsure I got caught but nope she decided I smelled OK and I didn't have a gum ball.

Again, that dang thing is not coming out when the gum balls are gone.

The girls go to bed between 7:30-8:00 most nights and usually stay up and read for about 20min or so. Erika sometimes will be up later then 8:30 reading so I have to reminder her its light out. Well tonight I forgot to go in there around 8:30 and instead went in their room to make sure they were all tucked in at 9:00. I found Erika still awake with a stack of books by her side.

I told her it was time for bed and she needed to shut her light off. She told me that she just had one more book to read. From the larger pile next to her it looked as though she had already read 20 books. I asked if she had read all of those and she said yep I did. Then she point to the pile and said 'that one is a long book.' I looked over the pile and noticed there was a grade school book Ryan had from school that is 500 pages long. She sat there and look over the entire book so no wonder its 9:00 and she isn't sleeping yet.
I giggled and told her one more book and its time for bed. I think we have a book worm on our hands.

Its been a pretty low key week for our househol.

The only big excitment is that I'm getting a new washer and dryer next week and I can't wait. Ryan took the old ones out lastnight and placed them in the garage so I can post on Craigslist. The girls were a little nervous when Ryan told him he was going to move the house with the hand cart. Emily doesn't want to move and Erika said daddy couldn't move the house with that thing.

This weekend Ryan is on call so the girls and I might head to BEM and hang with family. Though I'm not 100% sure we will go. One of the kids who goes to DC before and after school has the dreaded H1N1 and so with my luck one of us would get sick come Fri or when up there so I might change plans and do some things around here with the girls.

Over the weekend we took the girls to a Demo Derby. This was also my 1st time and it was GREAT! Who doesn't love watching cars and trucks drive around crashing into each other and then catching on fire. The best part of the show had to be the full size trucks raming into eachother.
The other weekend we went to the Broadway production of Mary Poppins and I'm on the fence as too which was acutally better. Demo Derby or Mary Poppins???
Not only was the crashing of cars great the people watching was even better. For those of you who have been to the BEM. Speedway you know what type of crowd likes to visit these events, exlcluding myself . I didn't realize that Buffalo had such a crowd and felt like I was back in BEM on a sunday night enjoying the stockcar races.
1) My 11 year old daughters will not be allowed out of the house wearing such little outfits and they will not be allowed to attend such an event until they are 16.
2) Do people not realize that it is NOT ok to bring your can of beer into a grandstand. You must leave that back in the cooler and yes I know on the weekends a beer can doesn't leave your hand unless its empty but this is a publice place where alcohol is not sold.
3) Taking as shower after work is OK even if your just going to the dirty rodeo arena to watch dirty cars crash.
4) A lift, mud tires and large antennas does not make your Mini Van any cooler.
5) Cheese curds at any event are YUMMY
6) Letting your child who looks to be 2 hang on the protective gate is NOT a good idea
7) Using 4 letter words in front of your child who looks to be 2 is another bad idea.
Overall it was fun and the girls had a blast. They want to go back again and have daddy drive his little car.

Yesterday I picked up the girls from DC and each day we pick up there is a quick review of how the day went and if anything we should know about important occured. Anytime that one of the kids has been in trouble its the talk of DC the min. a parent walks in the door.
E & E were the last to pick up and so there were no other kids there to tell me of the days events. The DC lady started to tell me about Emily while Erika is in hte back ground giving me her version of the days events

Emily had to sit in time out becuase she bit another girl. My girls have never been big on the bitting thing but in the past when Emily is tired or not feeling 100% she can get a little fisty but normally only with her sister. Well today was the exception. Apparently Emily didn't like that the other girl told her to stop kicking the other little boy during the game or she wouldn't be allowed to play anymore. Emily I guess went to do what looked like hug the little girl but really she went to bite and take out a her chest. Bitting is not allowed at DC and Emily was sent to Time Out.

The DC lady was talking with Emily about the situation and going over what she did was wrong and how she needs to say sorry. Emily asked if she was going to tell her daddy and the DC lady explained that mommy would be picking up so she would tell me and Emily said Ok but don't tell my daddy. At this point I guess Erika poked her noes in and told DC lady that she could spank Emily. DC lady explained that she doesn't spank and only mommies and daddies do that. Erika told her its OK to spank her becuase her daddy does it.

When we got home I did tell daddy what had occured and then went on to tell him about the comments from the peanut gallery and Emily about not wanting daddy to know. Apparently Emily didn't want daddy to know becuase when they get home after a day where there is TO they have to sit in TO at home also and not play outside and Emily wanted to play outside.

ps - we don't spank our kids

Last Sat we had a bon fire over at the neighbors. It was great becuase the kids played with a few other kids while we sat with adults and had a nice conversation. We all went to bed very late and even slept in. My girls are not ones that stay up late and sleep in the next day so this was very much a treat. I think the entire house finally rolled out of bed between 9 - 10. Erika and Daddy were up at 9 and Emily and I more like 10.
Just to top off the weekend we ALL took great naps on Sunday.

Ah what a great weekend that was.
